Michael A. Schwarz and Steve Sternberg to receive the Ryan White Distinguished Leadership Award

Friday, September 06, 2024

The School of Public Health-Bloomington and Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention (RCAP) hope you will join us Saturday, December 7, 2024 at noon for the 2024 presentation of the Ryan White Distinguished Leadership Award. This year's joint recipients are photojournalist Michael A. Schwarz and medical reporter Steve Sternberg, who received multiple prestigious awards for their August 1989 Atlanta Journal-Constitution feature "When AIDS Comes Home: The Life and Death of Tom Fox."

The evening will include a "fireside chat" with Michael and Steve, led by Provost Professor William L. Yarber, senior director of RCAP.

Hosted by Dr. Yarber and Ryan's mother Jeanne White Ginder, the event is free and open to the public.

We look forward to seeing you at the Indiana Memorial Union in Bloomington to celebrate these media pioneers who "put a 'human face' on the AIDS epidemic."
